Start here and try every link that does not say “roll” somewhere in the title.
The movements you do with the ball are more like acupressure than rolling. Apply gently increasing levels of pressure to a particular area that is tight or sensitive. Alternate between heavier pressure and lighter pressure while you breathe in slow, deep, methodical rhythms. For the most part you should increase applied pressure as you exhale, and decrease applied pressure while maintaining at least slight pressure as you inhale.
The balls are meant for deeper work, whereas the rollers are for more surface work. You may need to use the rollers extensively prior to doing ball work to avoid excessive sensitivity, as the balls can be pretty aggressive and your muscles may fight any release because you are applying too much pressure too quickly to a specific area.

hi,
i ordered and just received a half dozen smr balls. i cant seem to find any suggested techniques with them and since they are quite hard, i want to make sure i am using them right. is there a place i can see a few suggested smr tchniques using them?
