SMR stands for Self-Myofascial Release

It is a series of self-massage techniques you do by yourself with implements such as rollers or balls to improve how well your body moves. Your muscles and fascia (connective tissue found everywhere in the body) can bind up and inhibit proper range of motion. By combining assessment, therapeutic, and full-range functional movements with SMR, you can maintain your performance much longer than previously possible.

Explore these techniques and ENJOY LIVING again!

The Adobe PDF download is saved in press-quality resolution allowing you to zoom in at over 600% to see the anatomy illustrations and photos in very good detail.

The printed workbook is full-color, printed double-sided on 32-pound thick paper stock, and comb-bound like a cookbook, so you can lay it completely flat for easy reading while practicing some of the SMR exercises.

Myofascial Pain & Dysfunction

The BEST reference for muscle pain!

The Trigger Point Manual

by Dr. Janet Travell & Dr. David Simons

This 1664-page Manual is known as “the red bible” by massage therapists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, and just about anyone that works on the body to address pain.

For trainers and coaches it is a tremendously valuable resource for looking up examples of dysfunctional biomechanic issues caused by muscular dysfunctions. While much of the treatment side in the book is intended for the therapist (and should NOT be done by an unlicensed trainer or coach), the education of knowing which muscle or muscles may be causing the movement dysfunctions in the workouts will empower the coach to make more appropriate warm-up, stretching, and SMR recommendations.

    JKG,

We just processed your refund. We are so sorry for the delay in getting it to you. Our book and dvd are both a work in progress. It sounds like you are quite knowledgeable as compared to the average athlete, and the current collection of techniques are a bit familiar to you. We are in the process of adding three new chapters to the manual (about 200 pages of new content), and at least 60 more video clips to the website of new SMR techniques, complementary stretches, test/retest assessments, hot & cold stone SMR techniques, and more. In addition, the content on the dvd will be rendered in a higher quality output so it is closer to HD quality and it will be labeled so it is easier to sift through as well as searchable. We intend to send you a copy of the new searchable dvd when it is ready (sometime in the next month), as we are not completely satisfied with the quality of our first release. We will do the same for all of our customers that have purchased our first-run dvd collection. We hope to earn your interest and business with better products and services, and hope you will give us the opportunity to do so.

We notice that you are about an hour South of us. Jeff would like to meet with you to see how we might do a better job. Please contact him at fitcajun@networkfitness.com to discuss how we can better serve your needs.

Good luck with your fitness pursuits.

    Not stoked with the service.

I asked why the shipping was so expensive ($15 for a book and DVD) and was told that was an estimate and that it would come out to $8, and when I ordered it he would refund the difference. I ordered it and the $85 was withdrawn from my account but no refund. I emailed again about it and was told that the shipping came out to $11 but he would only charge me the $8 he quoted. That was a month ago and the difference still hasn’t been refunded.

In addition it think all this way overpriced. The information is good but there is really nothing new here. Buying this book and dvd was a mistake.

We fixed the website script…(guess we needed more coffee when we originally wrote it). Everything should work now.

Have you thought about bundling the printed book with a pdf copy? I’d like both, but suffer from space restrictions in Iraq.

    Marc,

Yes, in particular there are joint tables listing the muscles attached to a joint from above, below, in front and in back on any limb. Also there is a section on SMR explaining more detail than available online. It is the manual we use in our continuing education for trainers and therapists.

Are there things in the book that aren’t available with the fire-breather membership?
